About the experience
The Rarámuri, most commonly referred to as “Tarahumaras” or "The ones with the light feet" due to their natural ability to run long distances, are the original inhabitants of the state of Chihuahua. Their running is tied into mysticism, tradition, survival and identity.
This 6 day trip will take us running through the heart of the Sierra Tarahumara, hosted by local Rarámuri ultra-runner Silvino Cubésare and a group of young local runners.
We will embark on a historic 15km run through the picturesque village of Creel and into the surreal rock formations of the Tarahumara Mountains and drive deep into the beautiful Copper Canyon in a mind-blowing 21km run down and up the canyon in the vecinity of Guachochi.
Local medicine men will guide us through cleansing rituals that will allow us to reconnect to our primitive selves and to nature in deep and meaningful way.
We will provide daily yoga and meditation sessions designed especially to guide you on a path of physical and mental well-being.
We are happy to have Mirna Valerio joining us to co-host this experience and share her wealth of knowledge and valuable approach to running. Mirna is a renowned ultra-marathon runner, author, and educator that is challenging the assumptions of what runners and athletes should look like.
